Cycling Tour Alsace
This 7 day moderate to challenging Cycling Tour Alsace is a journey into an incredibly beautiful and diverse region of France. The cycling is mixed, with days of flat riding along valley floors, shouldered by endless rows of unfathomably steep vineyards, interspersed with days of moderate hilly climbs. This tour can be enjoyed by anyone with a some cycling experience, knowing that the support vehicle is never far away.
Alsace is on the eastern border of France with Germany, and is undoubtedly one of the world’s best wine destinations. However keen you are to experience the stunning wines, you can’t help but be struck by Alsace’s beauty. Itinerary at a glance
Transfers from Strasbourg station, bike fitting and a short intro ride into a local village market, a dip in the hotel pool and a group dinner
Villages, castles and the Vosges Mountains. A few hills to conquer (the support van is never far away) and views to savour, we arrive into our charming village of Ribeauville, lined with timber houses and cobbled streets.
Another hilly start but rewarded with a stunning vista and picnic lunch in Trois Epis. Wine sampling and down hill into Turkheim, before we reach the stunning Alsatian town of Colmar, where we stay for 2 nights. Our hotel has one of the best restaurants in town, very handy!
Option for a shorter or longer ride today, or stay and explore Colmar with so much to see and do. Dinner at the renowned Maison des Tetes restaurant tonight.
A relatively flatter day as we are near the Rhine River, and a crossing into Germany. Guten Tag! Crossing back into France and our village for the night Ensisheim, and our hotel complete with spa, pool and restaurant.
After a morning ride through flat villages, we arrive at the optional climb for the day - a challenge - up to Grand Ballon at 1343 metres. Do as much or little as you like, or just take the downhill into our village for the night, Thann. Our last group dinner is well deserved.
Breakfast and a sad farewell or au revoir to your new cycling friends. Onward transfers can be arranged.
