Vietnam Cycling Tour – Cycle the Mekong
Join our small group Vietnam cycling tour from Saigon to Phnom Penh and enjoy the best of this incredibly diverse region of Asia. This 7 night/8 day cycling adventure is suitable for recreational cyclists with cycling distances of around 50kms per day, and also for those that want to explore, learn and discover the food and culture of Vietnam & Cambodia.
Starting in bustling Saigon, we spend a full day discovering the strong coffee culture of Vietnam, as well as the wonderful food markets, before heading toward to Mekong Delta the following day. The Mekong is a brilliant part of Vietnam for cycling. Largely flat, following canals and rivers, and passing the floating markets and daily life of the beautiful and friendly Vietnamese people. We have plenty of time to stop and chat to locals, samples fresh local produce and snap the smiling faces of the adoring children. Read more about the Mekong from Rough Guides.
We catch the floating markets for sunrise and have breakfast brought to you on the water. We visit the noodle factory where you have a chance to make your own noodles. In the late morning we set off and cycle towards the coast and the port town of Rach Gia.
We continue through the Mekong until we reach the Cambodian border. A highlight as we get to explore the ancient Chisaur temple, some 200 years older than Angkor Wat! We cycle most of the way into Phnom Penh, before jumping into our support vehicle for the last busy section into the city for our final night of food and fun.
This Vietnam cycling tour is fully supported with local and western guides, good quality bikes and a support vehicle never far away. Accommodation is comfortable ensuite 3.5/4 star equivalent with 1 night in a more rustic ‘typical’ style accommodation on a river hut in the Mekong Delta.
Food is a highlight on this cycling tour, as we specifically have sourced and included dining venues that showcase the best of the region, in clean & comfortable settings.
Our cycling group is limited to 10 riders which makes for a more intimate, personal cycling tour and gives you the ability to get up close and personal with the people and the places we visit.
Airport transfers are included and are very handy in these busy Asian cities.
