Cycling Events 2016/17 Season

Cycling is ‘du rigour’ right now, and as a result there is an increasing list of cycling events 2016/17 occurring across the country.  This is a good thing, but the choice can be mind boggling.  So we’ve made it a bit easier by providing a list of cycling events for the coming 2016/17 season so you can plan which you’d like to enter.

Cycling Events 2016/17 in New South Wales

Spring Cycle: 16th October ride the Sydney Harbour bridge!  Various distances available, fantastic cycling event hosted by Bicycle NSW.

Mudgee Muster: Easter April 14-17 2017. A popular annual event that appeals largely to families, or those that love the idea of a weekend escape with a day of cycling included.

Bowral Classic: 23rd October Gran Fondo road cycling event leaning more to those that are semi serious cyclists.

MS Gong Ride Sydney to Wollongong: Sunday 6th November.  A Sydney institution, a charity fundraiser for anyone that wants to challenge themselves on this long and big hill ride starting in Sydney, now with a choice of 58kms or 90kms routes.

Cycling Events 2016/17 in Victoria

Great Victorian Bike Ride: The original mass cycling event and possibly still the best. Well organised and on incredible cycling routes.  Covering the Great Ocean Road in 2016, choose from 3, 5 or 9 day ride options.  Fully supported, big numbers but lots of fun.

Tour de Rutherglen: Sat 22nd October. A small but delightful cycling event raising funds for the Rotary Club, choose from 20km, 40km or the enduro 120km tour in North East Victoria around the inviting vineyards of Rutherglen.

Amy Gillett Ride: Sunday 11 September. Ride the Great Ocean Road and Otway Ranges on this challenging but spectacular cycling event, and help make cycling safe. 6000 riders, closed roads and spectacular scenery and 7kms, 45kms or 120kms routes to choose from.

Cycling Events 2016/17 in South Australia

South Australia is fast becoming THE cycling state in Australia.  There are numerous cycling events, and there state is lucky to have a strong state lobby group championing the cycling cause.  And of course the big daddy of all cycling events The Tour Down Under, which is the biggest cycling event in the world only after the Tour de France (this is true!).

Wine, Wheels & Whiting: 9-11 September. Choose from 45km, 70km or 145km routes, experience the stunning landscapes of South Australia cycling from Clare to the Copper Coast, with lots of entertainment, wine and food included.

Amy’s Ride: 6 November 2016.  An array of distance choices for all cycling abilities on this worthy fundraiser supporting the Amy Gillett Foundation.

Gear Up Girls ride of Adelaide: 20 November.  Adelaide’s biggest bike ride for Women, a leisurely style cycle with bubbles and cheese at the end (we like the sound of that!)

Bike SA Annual Tour: 24 Sept to 2 October 2016.  A multi day ride from the Clare Valley through the mid North to the Southern Flinders Ranges with a maximum of 200 cyclists.
