Itinerary at a Glance

Day 1

We transfer from the TGV station in Mâcon to our hotel in nearby Ige.  A warm up ride around the Macconais vineards to get a taste of the terrain to come then back to the hotel for the first of many amazing gourmet meals.

Day 2

After passing through the landscape of the Maconnais, we visit the famous Abbey of Cluny.  After visiting and lunch we ride on heading for medievil Tournus, our stop for the night in a converted guardhouse in the city ramparts, where another gourmet meal awaits.

Day 3

We cycle the Challonnaise wine region today and the heartland of Burgundy wine, with plenty of tasting opportunities.  Our hotel is in Rully. Tonight, we have a dedicated sommelier present wines paired perfectly with each course of our dinner.

Day 4

Our day starts riding along the Canal du Centre before we tour through the Hautes-Cotes de Beaune vineyards. Lunch in Santenay then travel through Chassagne-Montrachet to Chateau de Mersault where we break for a tasting. We check in to our hotel in Beaune, where we stay 2 nights and dine for our evening meal.

Day 5

A day of cycling amongst historical sites and vineyards for tastings as we loop back to Beaune, have tasted and visited some of the best venues in Burgundy. Dine in town at a local restaurant tonight.

Day 6

A shorter day of beautiful villages and world class wines with enchanting cellar doors, and yes wine tastings! We cycle to our wonderful accommodation at Chateau de Saulon and a stunning Burgundian meal for the evening.

Day 7

After breakfast, we arrange transfers for your onward travels and say our good byes to our new friends.  And start planning for the tour next year!

What is the group size for guided tours in France?

Group tours are great for making friends and sharing an amazing experience. Tours in France have a maximum of 16 guests, a good size to ensure a level of personal service. Minimum 6 guests.

What if I want a break from riding?

We encourage all guests to join in and cycle with the group however there is a minibus travelling along with the group that is available for anyone at any point during the day.The bus will take you for as long or as little as you wish.

What is the weather like?

Unfortunately we cannot guarantee the weather however tour dates are selected to be optimal for cycling - not too hot and not too cold! Considering the region and temperate climate, it would be unlucky to experience more than one wet day.
