Discover the natural beauty and cultural richness of the Dalmatian Coast on this Croatia cycling tour by boat and bike. The 8-day Pearls of Dalmatia sail and cycle tour takes you on a spectacular journey from Dubrovnik to Split aboard a comfortable motor yacht. Enjoy moderate daily e-bike rides (up to 60 km) across the lush islands of Mljet, quiet Lastovo, historical Korčula, scenic Hvar, and limestone-rich Brač.

Highlights include guided walking tours of Dubrovnik’s walled city and Split’s Diocletian’s Palace, swimming from the boat, and exploring hidden island villages. The Romantica yacht offers private cabins, alfresco dining, and a laid-back atmosphere, perfect for unwinding after a day of discovery.

Designed for active, mature travellers, this small-group adventure balances comfort with cultural immersion. You’ll pedal past lavender fields, visit artist towns like Stari Grad, sip local wine, and learn about ancient myths and legends that shaped the region. Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or new to bike touring with e-assist, this is the perfect way to experience the very best of Croatia’s Dalmatian islands.

The Cycling

This tour is rated as Challenging, with cycling through hilly to mountainous terrain and some steeper ascents of up to 400 meters. Requires confident riding on winding descents, uneven asphalt, and occasionally gravel paths. Suitable for confident cyclists accustomed to longer daily stages.

  • Distances: 28 – 60 km per day
  • Elevation: 200 – 500 meters of elevation per day
  • Road conditions: The roads are mostly asphalted and there is little traffic outside of holiday periods. On the island of Hvar, a short section runs along unpaved gravel and field tracks.
  • Traffic: Traffic is to be expected in and around coastal towns.
  • Infrastructure: There are no designated bike paths in Dalmatia, so the bike tours take place on public roads, preferably on quiet side streets.

Cycling

Safe cycling skills and familiarity with road traffic are prerequisites for taking part in our tours. Anyone renting an e-bike should already have experience and be confident in handling e-bikes, as these bikes are significantly heavier and faster than conventional bikes.

This tour is primarily a guided group tour. Upon consultation with your tour guides, the possibility to cycle on your own along recommended, suitable routes, may present itself. You are free to set aside a half or full day to swim or spend on board the boat, instead of taking a planned bike tour.

Helmets are mandatory.  It is advised to bring your own, well-fitted, helmet with you as rental helmet numbers are limited (reservation required).

Catering

The on-board chef is a member of the crew and prepares breakfast and one or two warm meals a day. The catering consists of 2 x full board and 5 x half board. Catering starts with dinner on the arrival day and ends with breakfast on the departure day.

Languages

Due to our international audience, all tours are conducted bilingually, in English and German.

When is the best time of year to visit Croatia?

Croatia tour dates are selected based on the best time to visit the beautiful islands. The coast has a Mediterranean climate with plenty of sunshine year round. Winter is the wet season and summer is the peak season.

What if I want a break from riding?

We encourage all guests to join in and cycle with the group however, on any given day you can always elect to stay aboard the ship, read a book on the sun deck, explore the village the ship is docked in, or get some shopping in at the unique local markets.

Is there pre and post tour accommodation available?

Yes.

We recommend extending your stay on the island of Krk, which is one of the most diverse islands in the Mediterranean. Vineyards, olive groves, extensive forests and ancient stone walls characterize the landscape. There are many beautiful beaches and in Rudine you can visit an interesting stalactite cave. The town of Baška with its surrounding lunar landscape is also worth a visit.

We would be happy to arrange additional nights in our partner hotel on Krk before or after your Istrian Cycling tour. Prices vary depending on the season.
