This cycling tour in the Barossa and Clare Valley lets you discover the incredible food and wine highlights of South Australia at your own pace.

Gently cycle your way to famous venues including Maggie Beers, Penfolds and Jacobs Creek as well as some hidden secrets along the way. Dine at award-winning cellar doors including Skillogalee and O’Leary Walker’s in the Clare Valley.

The cycling is predominantly off road using the paved Barossa trail and the fantastic Riesling Rail Trail in the Clare. Being self guided you can ride as little or as much as you like (as long as you make it to the lunch bookings which are well worth a little effort). This tour is fully supported with luggage transfers, on call support, bikes, helmets, maps, directions and printed itineraries all provided.

How Does this Self Guided Cycling Tour Work?

This cycling tour package includes 1 day cycling in the Barossa and 2 days cycling in the Clare Valley on the Riesling Rail Trail. There is transport required from Adelaide to the Barossa,  Barossa to Clare and then from Clare at the conclusion of the tour.

Transport options are:
1. Self drive (own vehicle or hire car), where we arrange bikes in each of the regions so you don’t have to carry bikes, just ride them!  This option is recommended for couples or small groups.
2. Use our transport service (ideal for groups) with the option to BYO bikes or choose from our fleet of hybrid or E-bikes.

Self Guiding

Self-guided cycling tours do require participants to be adaptable and able to solve issues whilst on tour. On-call support is included in your tour, but it is expected that you will know how to repair punctures and make minor adjustments to gears, handlebars and seats if required, and if bringing your own bike, then this is expected. For anything more serious, we will be able to assist with a call to our 1300 665 330 number at any time during your trip.  You should be able to read a map and follow directions, either on a device or a printed map (supplied), and you have a good sense of direction. Getting a little bit lost or having to ask locals for directions is all part of choosing to travel on a self-guided basis. The maps and directions provided to you are updated regularly and tailored to your specific trip (hotels, restaurants are noted and marked). If this is something that makes you nervous or uncertain, or if you know for sure that you can’t fix a puncture or aren’t confident reading a map, then we do recommend our extensive range of small group fully guided tours where all the stress of navigation, bike maintenance and logistics is all done for you. However, if comfortable with this, then the freedom of a self-guided cycling trip is wonderful, and once confident, can be the preferred choice across our range of cycling tours.
