FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get to the start?
This tour starts in Melbourne CBD.  Our passenger bus and trailer will be parked opposite the Arts Centre on St Kilda Rd ready for a 9am departure.  Train, bus and tram services arrive nearby or you might like to stay in Melbourne for the night and walk to the meeting point.

Do you have bikes available to hire (including ebikes)?
Yes. You have the option to BYO, hire our regular style bike or upgrade to an eBike. We have a fleet of quality Trek & Merida bikes to choose from, including step through style frames (on request).  Prices are online or contact us for more information about our bike fleet on this cycling tour.

What happens to our luggage?
Luggage transfers are included on your tour. Please make sure you label your bags (luggage tags provided) and check with the guide the best place to leave luggage for pick-up the following morning.

Do you provide a gel seat cover for the bike that I am allocated?
Our bikes don’t come with gel seat covers, nor do we supply them. However, you are more than welcome to bring your own if you would like to. Most gel pads will stretch (or come with draw strings) to fit any size of seat.  We’d also recommend wearing padded cycling shorts if worried to ensure comfort.

What happens if it pours with rain or is too hot?
All our tours include support - either on tour or on call - so help is never far away. Our local concierge is on hand throughout your tour with us and can call in the support bus at anytime if required. We would transport you to lunch, or a wine tasting or similar so your tour can continue as required.  Little or occasional showers are not reason for Tour de Vines to cancel a tour. If dangerous heat, fire, flood or other weather conditions are prevalent, we will cancel and full refunds are available in this instance.

I’m not sure I can complete the ride, and don’t want to hold up the group?
All our cycling tours are enjoyed at your own pace.  Want to stop to take photos, no problem.  Want to stop for a rest, no problem.  Your guide is experienced and on hand to ensure your safety and that you enjoy your time cycling with us. Of course, we also have E-bikes on hand and we would strongly recommend using one of these if concerned about your ability to ride this tour without stress.

How many other riders are on this cycling tour?
We do have a strict limit of 10 guests on this tour.  You will also have your guide and driver with you during the tour.  Our small groups mean we can get into venues and places larger groups aren’t able to.  Small groups also ensure we can provide super high levels of service for you during the trip.

What is the transport used and are there luggage restrictions?
We use a minibus with luggage storage and a bike carrying trailer, so we do ask for a limit of 1 x regular suitcase style bag together with a smaller bag for smaller items and day access if needed.

Small Group Trips

Our small group fully guided tours are...well, awesome!  We always receive rave reviews on these trips and this is because our guides are amazing and our guests always get along and have so many common interests.   Your guide and support driver do everything for you (almost everything!) and so your holiday is completely stress free.
