This 5 day/4 nights cycling tour in North East Victoria is for anyone wanting to cover all the major sights and gourmet delights in this increasingly popular cycling region. Using the paved, largely flat, off road Murray to Mountains rail trail as the cycling path, you will taste the gourmet treats that abound in the north east Victoria region, as well as enjoy the incredible scenery and accessible, safe cycling paths. Starting in Beechworth, you will cycle to Milawa, Myrtleford and Bright over 4 nights.
The Cycling
This tour has 3 days cycling covering the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail in almost it’s entirety, a relatively easy 100kms with only 1 small and gentle uphill section on the second day. The cycling is suitable for even novice or beginner riders, and we now have electric assist bikes available if you have any doubts! The tour is fully supported with a van only a phone call away.
Being self-guided, you are free to cycle as far and wide as you like. Recommended routes and maps are provided but navigation is easy so you are free to roam! There are plenty of lovely optional add-on rides including around Beechworth on arrival day and from Bright before your departure transfers.
The Gourmet Treats
Our guests are often surprised at the quality of food and wine from the region. Your tour includes restaurant meals in the evenings, platter-style feasts for lunch and full breakfasts throughout (with the all-important coffee or tea!). As a guest of Tour de Vines you will enjoy exclusive food and wine tastings (e.g. food and wine pairing at beautiful Gapsted Winery on Day 3).

Self Guiding
Self-guided cycling tours do require participants to be adaptable and able to solve issues whilst on tour. On-call support is included in your tour, but it is expected that you will know how to repair punctures and make minor adjustments to gears, handlebars and seats if required, and if bringing your own bike, then this is expected. For anything more serious, we will be able to assist with a call to our 1300 665 330 number at any time during your trip. You should be able to read a map and follow directions, either on a device or a printed map (supplied) and you have a good sense of direction. Getting a little bit lost, or having to ask locals for directions is all part of choosing to travel on a self-guided basis. The maps and directions provided to you are updated regularly and tailored to your specific trip (hotels, restaurants are noted and marked). If this is something that makes you nervous or uncertain, or if you know for sure that you can’t fix a puncture or aren’t confident reading a map, then we do recommend our extensive range of small group fully guided tours where all the stress of navigation, bike maintenance and logistics is all done for you. However, if comfortable with this, then the freedom of a self-guided cycling trip is wonderful, and once confident, can be the preferred choice across our range of cycling tours.
